And the very first day of a brand new term. Then, with a loud clanging the bell rings again, for the first time in the new school year, and in spill the pupils. Laughing, talking dancing and chattering, knocking each other and remaking aquaintances. And toward the back of the tide come the sullen ones, the friendless ones, the billy-no-mates of every class. There are always some, Geeks, Freaks and Individuals. The ones who didn't fit in. And the newest pupils on their first day, scared, feeling small, not sure where to go.
And at the very back of the surge came a girl. A tall, slim, upright girl, the eldest of the new students, starting a new life. With her trousers long enough to drag the ground and her hair hiding her eyes walked Kelsey. Through the doors of the school to a new life. She pulled down the sleeves of her top again so that they covered her hands, no-one need know, she might make friends that way. She hitched up her bag onto her shoulder, and readjusted her grip on the handle of a guitar case. This time it was different. As Kelsey made her way through busy corridors she searched for the room in which her new form would be.
Finding the place she sidled through the open door, settling herself into a seat in the back corner of the room. Waiting for the teacher she looked about, eying up the usual suspects. Ther were some in every school. The ones who would try to make trouble because you were new, the ones who would be firendly, the ones you should avoid to make the right impression. But no one approached her. They had their own seat, their own friends, their own lives.
