If you've ever felt like you were flying you probably enjoyed it, unlike this madame. She was busy, concentrating and this was only on tightening the white skate lases. The steps on the thin blades were easy to take unlike many expected. Not being exactly as foot perfect on the ice as on land she enjoyed remaking her weak points, although she had been attending a few lessons of skating as order from Rothud for balance. The thick sandy shaded tights wrapped themselves around her very thin legs, almost the same width - evidence of her anorexia problem over a year ago. They were always on the move accompanied by the body, done over in Lycra with a jumper over the top.
As her blades fell on to the ice she pushed onto the smooth empty rink and spread her arms. The feeling of space and freedom was what she needed at this very moment. One foot after the other she warmed herself up and then began moving faster. The soft scratches were changed into a spray of ice as she skidded to a side halt. Looking around the empty seats she smiled sourly and started off backward. Her routine that she had been practicing, in her dancing mind, always included a male part too yet for now she just had the time to practise herself before Andrew got his wimpy butt down here. She began slowly to get in her position yet stood up once again waiting until she felt ready to take up the enormous speed that was needed. Many people thought that the female part wasn't one that was skating but a prop to make the male look good. In fact to CariDee it was the opposite way round.
Many times she had just gone around the ice and not thought about routines although this time was different. With a showcase coming up she had to take all the time she could to do all the practicing she could, even if it wasn't the routine she was doing. Staying in shape was difficult for someone who had to force them self to eat to cope with the vigorous exercise she forced her body to do. Many times she had thought that food was just something that overweight people used as their hobby and eating was a chore but at times it was something she enjoyed to socialize over even if it was a small meal.
Her hand lifted up to her hair as she pulled out the brown band that held her soft blond strands in a ponytail and re-did it. She was still waiting for something to happen before she started although that wasn't going to happen. She returned herself to the spot she was in beforehand and took a deep breath. She was ready.

Sliding cold feet from her battered shoes, Kelseys heart skipped a beat, there was, for the first time, someone else out on the ice. An unusual occurance. Nethertheless she pulled on the soft dark boots, tying tight the laces and tucking the ends in. Pulling down the bottoms of her jeans, kelsey rose, staggering to the edge of the ice on blades of metal. She could see the other person clearly now, dressed in lycra, tall blonde and beautiful. Kelsey felt a stab of jealousy as she smothed out her jeans, her refusal to conform. Shifting herself out, over the ledge and onto the ice she skated slowly. Not a dancer, nor naturally gracefull she hugged the sides lest she should fall. The cold was seeping into her bones, making her hands ache and her eyes burn. It's the cold that makes me want to cry. she told herself Just the cold. and for a moment she almost believed it. Kelsey acheived several sucsessful circuits of the rink by not thinking what she was doing, not thiking how alien the concept was. Just thinking riffs, trying to remeber the exact note sequence that Marc had sent her. She was starting to feel almost pleased with herself when she over balanced and had to grab the side. Turning scarlet she oulled her self up and carried on, waiting to hear peals of laughter echo across the ice. Getting back into her rythm kelsey lost herself in riffs again, and skated on peacefully for several more circuits. But then it came, the sudden bout of fatigue as her muscles cried out for sustenance, Kelsey slipped and fell, crashing to the ice. But then it passed. And she could have easily risen again, but she did not. Just lay there, feeling the cold burn all the exposed skin it could find. She waited again for the laughter.

Her hands lifted the headphones to her ears as she pressed play with her black polished fingers, unaware of the other stepping onto the ice. Many had said she was beautiful and that they would kill for her face yet the pain of that compliment was something that kept her going. She thought that everyone was beautiful apart from herself. She relaxed her shoulders slightly before standing with her legs together and feet apart slightly in a 'V' shape. her head down and tilted to he side. After the music started she pushed her arms up in a small electronic wave pretending that her dance partner was beside her. Her right leg then pushed forward and onto the toe pick bending her knee slightly. The contagious beat caused slightly humming to occur. She hadn't heard this song before but had been given it to her by the music coordinator's assistant.
Continuing the toe pick and bending on both legs three times she turned to face the imaginary person. Her toe pick of her right boot slipped back and into the ice moving her backward in a moonwalk like way. CariDee continued this onto the other skate until down the three quarter line. Her arm lifted up as she span around 270 degrees and jumped up onto her toe pick. Before stopping the music and sighing.
Just then did the sound of blades on the ice hit her and her first instinct was to open her mouth and start shouting about how late he was. If she had it would have been embarrassing and totally out of order as it was a mere stranger that she would have blown up on. Her lightly grey/blue eyes watched the girl as she smiled carefully. It was fun being someone who had no idea how to skate yet still went for it. Crossing her arms over her chest she rubbed her arms with her bare hands and gasped as she fell. Automatically she sped over and slowed down as she came to the wall. Extending a hand she opened her mouth and let her slightly deepened voice take a cause of concern. "Are you OK?"

The ice burnt into her skin, cold seeping into her essence so that she though she could never be warm again. She could here the quiet swishing of skates on ice and opened her eyes so that she could see. The other girl seemed to dance across the ice as though she was flying, and kelsey felt a sudden pang of jealousy. SHe shut her eyes tight again, It's just the cold thats making my eyes prockle, just the cold. A rustling noise of approaching skates on ice caused Kelsey to stir, she scrammbled up so that she was sat reasonably upright when the stranger approached. Shifting around so that she could get her feet underneath her she started to struggle to her feet. Yeah, yeah thanks, i'm fine, just slipped thats all. She gave a nervous giggle, rubbing jumpered arms and slouching again to sit on her feet. The cold burning into her, icy metal blades mere inches from her back. She was afraid that the sudden fatigue might come again, wondered what it meant. Your just weak, the little voice in her head replied. but she dismissed it. Instead, thinking that perhaps she ought to speak again she said, That, that was pretty cool skating earlier... But she tailed off, not sure how to continue. Instead she rocked gently on the blades, trying to get upright.

Arched back lifted into the good postured place it usually was as she rubbed the back of her neck softly. Sometimes thinking of what others couldn't do, and enjoyed the feeling of being able to do it, was something to be jealous over. Maybe some wanted to ice skate but didn't have the balance that was needed to stay upright. Being someone who came from a reasonably average background in the flats around Rothud she could be someone who had the best time in life doing what she wanted. "Thank you. It's nothing to great just a little something, I'm no ice skater really it's just something to help with dancing and so lessons are placed here and there."
Her words were gripped by the icy fog that surrounded each syllable fiercely but as gentle as so each word was sent into a deeper tone before being passed onto the person for registration. Her thoughts lingered slowly for quite some time until she felt sympathetic toward the girl. "I can teach you if you want... "

The girl spoke normally to her and Kelsey was surprised. Maybe she could make a new start here after all. Anything was possible. Her heart sang and she wanted to leap around shouting Yes! I'd love that so much! But she didn't. Couldn't. Just stared embarassedly at the ground and scuffed one toe against the ice. She would have loved to learn to skate more elaboratly, or atleast well enough that she sis not have to hug the side in case she fell. Maybe one day, if she kept practising, after all if she agreed to help then she would be found out and her fresh new start would be ruined. She couldn't afford to get too friendly, not yet. But then, as she opened her mouth to politely decline she made a snap desicion that she thought she might regret later. That would be awesome. she said, and even as her head started to chastise her for the words coming out of her mouth her heart lifted with excitement. Thank you. she added quickly, not wanting to seem ungrateful, annoyed with herself for the tendecy to become side tracked in mental arguments, mid conversation. Kelsey gave a small smile, put her skate flat on the ice and slipped again. Catching herself before she hit the ice she stood back up, blushing a little. She had no hope of making friends if she couldn't even stand up straight.
